And I seriously considered removing my birthday from my Facebook profile so I wouldn’t get a bunch of “happy birthday”s from people who would not talk to me on any other day. The people who matter the most to me know my birthday and don’t need some bullshit reminder of when it is. My girlfriend knows someone who lists his birthday on fb as some random day to see who will wish him a happy birthday because if they do, those people don’t really know him anyway. I guess for this year I’ll play along and let the notifications build up and embrace the pseudo instant-gratification the repeated phrase tends to have.
